Affordable Acupuncture

Research indicates that for many chronic health conditions the frequency of treatment is important in obtaining positive results. That is why the Wellness Clinic offers affordable acupuncture treatments starting at $50 a visit*.

On your first visit we do a full health status assessment, and recommend a  treatment strategy that may include acupuncture, auricular therapy, herbal medicine, cupping, moxa, dietary recommendations, Qi Healing, or Qi Gong remedial exercises.

The treatment process will be thoroughly explained to ensure you feel comfortable.  An office visit will last from 45 minutes to 1 hour 15 minutes.  The needles, once inserted, will usually be left in place from 20 to 40 minutes.  Only  sterile disposable needles are  used.  Some needles may pinch a bit on insertion, others are painless.  Patients do not need to believe in  acupuncture for it to work.  They just need to keep an open mind.

The cost of  treatment varies from $50 to $110 per session.  There is no sales tax on acupuncture as it is a medical service.  The fee for the Health Status Assessment is $50 plus HST.  We accept cash, Visa, Master Card and  debit.  Direct billing is provided for most private health insurance plans.

*  To benefit from the reduced price for multiple acupuncture treatments, patients are required to pay for treatments in advance and attend all scheduled treatment sessions.  Missed  appointments will be charged at the posted rate. No reimbursements  provided. Insurance receipts are provided after each treatment.

Herbal Medicine

The Wellness Clinic offers the services of a certified herbalist. Herbal Medicine is a natural, non-invasive, and effective way of dealing with many common health concerns such as infertility,  allergies, colds and flu, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain. Western  pharmaceutical drugs capitalize on a single biologically active  ingredient to produce specific physiological effects. This accounts for  their potency as well as for their adverse side effects.

Most herbs originate from  the foods we eat – berries, bark, plant leaves, seeds, roots, flowers,  and so on. When combined in a formula they address many key  issues that are at the root of the disease. In addition, the active  ingredients are embedded within the whole plant and are easily assimilated by the body. Patients  rarely experience any adverse side effects as the body accepts the  natural medicine more readily. Under the direction of a trained herbalist, herbal medicine can be  used safely and effectively with most Western medical practices.

Qi Gong

Qi (pronounced Chi) is the energy that flows through the body via specific pathways called meridians. The practice  of Qi Gong builds Qi via proper posture, soft movement, breath, and  meditation. Qi  Gong Remedial Exercises are often used with acupuncture and herbal  medicine to help treat a variety of health issues.

The Wellness Clinic's Qi Gong Instructor, Maurice Lavigne, is a practitioner of Traditional Chinese Medicine and former Martial Arts Teacher. He  studied Tai Chi and Qi Gong under two Grand Masters, Weizhao Wu of  Toronto and T.K. Shih of Connecticut, USA. Maurice has authored three books on Qi Gong available on Amazon.ca: The Power of Qi for Health & Longevity; Qi Gong's Five Golden Keys, and Dance of the Dragon: Healing Oneself & Others.

Maurice teaches Qi Gong classes at the Fredericton YMCA on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Classes are free for Y members. Drop in fee is $10. All are welcome.

Maurice is also offering a Qi Gong Workshop on Anxiety at the University of New Brunswick on Sunday October 14th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Click on the link above for more details.
